Surfing
The Guanacaste waves are surfing paradise! Many well-known surfing aficionados come to this region to surf the local beaches. Some of the countries best surfing locations are within miles of The Sanctuary Resort. There are surfers who come to Costa Rica all-year round and the green season (June-November) generally provides some of the tallest waves.

Kayaks
We have several complimentary kayaks available to our guests. If you like exploring the calm, tranquility of a tree-lined river, we've got just the place for you. A beautiful river runs on The Sanctuary's edge and ends at the mouth of our beach, creating a shallow pool during low-tide where salt water and fresh water meet. Take the kayaks out during low-tide on our beach and explore the magnificent shoreline.

Body surfing
Some people call body-surfing a sport. Call it whatever you want. Drenching your body in the warm ocean water is known to replenish your soul and refresh your spirit.
